The Best Cities in Europe for Night Time Wandering

Certain cities really connect themselves well to wandering the streets at night often slightly inebriated. The cityscape is interesting, with many different ways you can wander, the people interesting and diverse and most importantly, more or less, friendly, and the streets are safe enough that you don’t feel in dire fear. These are the cities that are best while traveling in Europe to walk around with a good friend and something to drink. The cities that are best for night time wandering are:

Amsterdam

In one breath one of the most pretty cities in Europe and the other the place where it perfectly alright to find a hidden canal and get high. Walking around stoned in Amsterdam is pretty much a traveler expectation and a joy for most that do it. A really safe city there is no serious threats other than perhaps ending up behind one of the red light windows. The logistics of the city with circular rings in the city centre makes a person’s first time around the city fantastically confusing. The truth is you will get totally lost in the city at first, but not really care and love it.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAVienna

A wonderfully beautiful city stuffed full with art, culture and intrigue. At the end of the day if Jesse and Celine can wander these streets all night like they did in the film “Before Sunrise” so can you. Wanders always find themselves to open squares where music is being played and to great little bars you can nip into to top yourself up a little. Wandering at night time in Vienna always will be a magical experience.

London

From personal experience I know London is a great wandering town. Back in 2002 a friend and I use to spend our time putting vodka in pop bottles and just walking around in central London. Really there is so much diverse action around Leister Square, Covenant Garden, and Soho that you won’t even need a bar. Perhaps a little more risky than the other two cities mentioned it still is reasonable safe. What gives London a real night time edge when it comes to walking about is the overall range of characters that you can meet. London in terms of its in habitants is as ranging as anywhere on the earth, walking around at night is literally like a science lab of varied people and oddities. If you spend time in London have a night time wander starting from Leicester Square you won’t regret it.

London is one of the most accessible cities in the world. EasyJet and Ryanair both fly in from a variety of European cities, although have a tendency to land in the likes of Luton and Stansted, so make sure transport into the centre is still running when you arrive. Big carriers are more likely to drop you in the better connected Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Qantas and British airways both have the direct flights from major Australian cities, like Sydney and Melbourne: book flights to London early for best rates. Don’t like to fly? Eurostar also runs frequently from France and Belgium. Whilst those arriving from the city of lights, who don’t fancy shelling out for the Eurostar, can opt for a bus instead. iDBUS run a regular Paris to London route that costs €40-60, and you can still get some work done as their coaches are equipped with WiFi and power sockets!
