Leche flan, an egg-based dessert, is a local take on creme caramel, a custard dessert with a soft caramel layer on top. It is also the local term for the originally Spanish flan de leche, which means milk flan. Our leche flan is heavier than the Spanish dish. It is commonly made with condensed milk and egg yolks and steamed over an open flame or festive top. It is also a staple dessert among Filipino feasts.
