Ingredients:
- 14 ons (~400 g) of ground beef
- 3.5 ons (~100 g) of lamb fat
- 2.8 ons breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 grated onion
- 1 tsp of red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp of cumin
- 1 tsp of baking soda
- 1 tsp of vinegar
- Salt
- Black pepper
For the sauce:
- 3 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 onion
- 2 green peppers
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 cup of tomato sauce
- ½ tbsp of tomato paste
- ½ tbsp of pepper paste
- 1 tsp of red pepper flakes
- 3 cloves of garlic
- ½ cup of water
- Salt
- Black pepper
For the topping:
- 3.5 ons (~150 g) of grated cheese
Instructions:
Combine ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, grated onion, spices, baking soda, and vinegar in a mixing bowl and knead. Shape them into small pieces approximately the size of a walnut. Saute them in a non-stick pan and then transfer them to small casserole dishes. (Using these measurements, you will have around 6 small casserole dishes. The size may vary depending on the casserole dishes.) In the pan where the meatballs were cooked, add olive oil. Begin by adding onions and then peppers, and saute. Continue sauteing by incorporating tomato paste, followed by tomato sauce, garlic, spices, and water. Cook for some time. Pour the prepared sauce over the meatballs and bake in a preheated 355 °F (~180 °C) oven for 20 minutes to allow the meatballs and sauce to meld. Sprinkle grated cheese on top and return to the oven. Keep it in the oven until the cheese melts and forms a golden crust. After removing from the oven, let it sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Enjoy your meal!
