When I did the video on the Brazilian dessert brigadeiros (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oncZCE14TT0&list=TLo0WldazhZ84), there were SO MANY commenters–mostly on Facebook–who noticed the striking similarity between brigadeiros and a Filipino dessert called pastillas.
A few of my awesome viewers in the Philippines sent me the recipe and also videos, which completely convinced me I needed to try it.
It’s probably the easiest dessert I’ve ever made!
Here’s all you need:
-2 cups powdered milk
-1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
-sugar, for coating
-optional: crushed nuts, for coating
Mix the powdered milk and condensed milk together. Let sit for 10-15 minutes. Shape into a ball or log. Roll in sugar (and/or nuts), and wrap it in cellophane or food paper. Enjoy!
And a HUGE thanks for Mel for providing me with the recipe, and to Ainsley for her wonderful video!
