Do you want to make meals from scratch but find yourself limited for time?
Yes, us too!
Here’s one way we’ve been able to save money on groceries, cook from scratch most nights and save time in the process.
We cook one meat for our family and stretch that into many meals. No, we don’t mean eating leftovers every night of the week. Here’s what last week looked like for us:
Day 1: Homegrown roasted chicken, carrots, and potatoes (Crockpot meal)
Day 2: Chicken Tortilla Soup and Quesadillas (used the extra chicken)
Day 3: Pasta E Fagioli (used the extra carrots)
Day 4: Venison over mashed potatoes and gravy (used the extra potatoes)
Bonus: Bone broth to can for our food storage
Most of the time, we have enough meat to add to the other meals. For example, we may cook a ham and use the leftover ham in all Day 1-Day 4 meals.
However you do it, this method will help you save money and time in the kitchen.
Do you plan meals in your home? How often do you eat your leftovers in your home?
