Chinese Chicken & Vegetable Rolls – Chinese Style Recipe
Welcome to Xiao’s Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei and my goal is to make your cooking simple and exciting. Ever since my Mother showed me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia, in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and learn new Chinese recipes.
Ingredients:
3 Chicken Breasts (cut each breast into 3 thin slices horizontally)
18 French beans (or green beans)
1 Carrot (cut same size as beans)
1 Red Bell Pepper (remove seeds & cut into strips)
4 Tbsp Plain Flour
1 Tsp Ground White Pepper
2 Tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp White Sugar
Salt to Taste
Method:
1. Boil 500ml of water in a pan, place French beans and carrot strips, boil for a minute
2. Add the red pepper strips and boil for half of a minute, remove contents from pan and drain
3. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, sugar and 2 Tbsp of water
4. Dust both sides of the chicken slice with flour
5. Place 3 French beans, 3 carrot strips and 3 pepper strips to one end of the chicken, sprinkle with little salt and ground white pepper
6. Fold and then roll to meet the other end of the chicken to create a wrap or roll, secure with cocktail stick. Repeat with the rest ingredients
7. Heat 2 Tbsp of oil in frying pan over medium heat, place the chicken rolls in the pan and fry over medium low heat until golden to all sides– turn regularly
8. Pour the sauce mixture made earlier over, cover the pan and cook for 5 minutes over low heat – turning the rolls regularly
9. Remove lid and turn heat to medium, continue to cook for a minute
10. Remove from pan, remove the cocktail sticks and enjoy
