So i have a few cans of spam laying around the house and i thought, why not try and see how many different recipes and dishes i can make with one can of spam? These all ended up being not only really quick to cook up, but also really delicious. So here we go – the following spam dishes/ spam recipes per their mention in this video…
1. spam & egg sandwich (this is a pretty simple one i know)
– 2 x egg
– 2 slices of spam
– 2 slices of toast
2. Spam musubi recipe
– a slice of thicker spam
– rice
– nori (seaweed) sheets
– marinade for the spam – 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp sugar
“Spam musubi is a popular snack and lunch food composed of a slice of grilled Spam on top of or sandwiched in between a block of rice, wrapped together with nori in the tradition of Japanese omusubi. Inexpensive and portable, Spam musubi are commonly found near cash registers in convenience stores all over Hawaii.” i’ve been wondering how to make spam musubi since i came back from Hawaii and im glad i FINALLY got round to making it.
3. Spam fried rice
frozen veggies (carrots, corn, peas)
rice (preferably left in fridge overnight)
a few slices of spam cubed
2 x eggs
1 clove garlic
2 slices ginger
1/4 shallot
spring onions
sauce for the rice: 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp fish sauce, 1 tsp sugar
4. Spam & egg instant noodles
instant noodles
1 egg
2 x slices of spam
a thing of bok choy
5. Budae jjigae
– rice cakes
– kim chi
– beef/ chicken broth
– tofu
– spam (duh)
– sausages
– gochujang (red chili paste)
– cheese
– enoki mushrooms
– instant ramen
“Budae-jjigae or spicy sausage stew is a type of jjigae, made with ham, sausage, spam, baked beans, kimchi and gochujang. The dish was created shortly after the armistice that ended the Korean War, using the scrounged or smuggled surplus foods from the U. S. army bases.”
