Romantic Treats in the City: Top Fine Dining Restaurants

With fine dining opportunities being rife in the city of London, you and your loved one will be spoilt for choice this Valentine’s Day – as long as you book in advance, that is. Couples all over the UK are planning this year’s most romantic celebrations, and as such will be reserving tables left, right and centre for their special meal – if you’re planning to a London getaway, arrange your table as soon as possible.

With Valentine’s Day falling on a Thursday this year, take the opportunity to enjoy a long weekend in the city. Spend the actual day enjoy each other’s company – just the two of you. Walk hand in hand down tree lined avenues, catch a spot of theatre or ballet and indulge in some fine dining fare. The rest of the weekend can be seen how you see fit – sightseeing, culture or just each other’s company. With plenty of London hotels from Travelodge available, a break in the city doesn’t even need to break the budget.

Check out our top 5 fine dining restaurants for your perusal:

Alain Ducasse @ The Dorchester

As one of the country’s finest 3* Michelin establishments, you can expect some world class fare, served to the highest quality. As one of two restaurants in the city to have been given this highly desirable accolade, you know you will be treated like royalty from the beginning of your visit, to the end.

Alyn Williams @ The Westbury

Although a relatively new kid on the block, this beautiful Mayfair restaurant is set to be a high flyer. Since opening in 2011, it has received 3 rosettes and a Michelin star and continues to flourish.  With Alyn having worked for some of the best known and highly talented chefs in the world, including Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, his solo venture is based around a boutique fine dining restaurant that focuses on British seasonal produce, with a distinctly French style.

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal

His 3* Michelin restaurant, The Fat Duck, may be in Bray, but his new Knightsbridge restaurant has already shown huge potential. Having received a Michelin star within the first year of opening, and now situated at number 9 in the World’s Top 50 Restaurants, Dinner by Heston is highly sought after but totally worth it. The menu is based around traditional and historic British dishes with a typical Heston twist, including the “meat fruit” which is chicken liver pate made to look like a mandarin orange. Clever stuff.

Gordon Ramsay @ Royal Hospital Road

Ramsay is a huge name the world over, due to his celebrity chef status and his hugely successful restaurants including the 3* fine dining offering at Royal Hospital Road. An absolute legend in the field, the restaurant has, since 1998, served French haute cuisine to the utmost standards and well deserved of the highest of accolades.

Treat your loved ones to a Valentines meal to remember, and spend a long weekend in our beautiful capital.
