Food and travel are natural partners. While there are many reasons for this, the main ones are because a) everyone needs to eat, and b) travelling lets you try something new or have things you can’t get back home. It’s not unusual for people to centre a big part of their travels around where and what they are going to eat, making going to a destination where the food is fabulous a top priority.
If you’re looking for a great vacation spot that also has fantastic food, Florida is definitely for you. The scenery and attractions are first rate and the food is as varied as you want it to be, making every night or day out a chance to taste something completely new. You won’t have a shortage of options regardless of where you situate yourself in the great state, but know that you’re up for a great time when you do.
At Your Resort
If you plan on staying at a resort while you’re travelling, you’re in for a treat when it comes to food. Club Med Florida have the added benefit of giving you a wide variety of food while not costing you anything extra. Who doesn’t love going for dinner or grabbing something for lunch for free? Many resorts are known for their food, with menus designed by world class chefs and coming from influences around the world.
At a Theme Park
If you happen to be staying in the Orlando area and are partaking in the Disney theme parks, don’t miss out on the excellent food that is there. All the parks have great dining, ranging from dinners with the characters to themed diners, but you can’t beat those options in Epcot Centre’s World Showcase. Based around about a dozen different countries ranging from Norway to Japan, you can sample authentic culinary sensations made by people from those actual countries. You can make reservations at these places for a romantic dinner after seeing the park all day or pop in solely for the food.
At a Dinner Theatre
There are dinner theaters all over the state, covering a wide range of themes and food options. What’s better than dinner? Dinner and a show! With new shows coming up all the time and old favourites to return to year after year, you can eat a multi course meal while watching knights joust or jokes being told.
On the Boardwalk
Skipping out on the grandeur and just doing something simple, boardwalk or pier side restaurants give you a sample of what casual Florida life is like. Grab a burger and walk the distance or find a patio restaurant and just kick back and bask in the sounds and smells of the waterfront – you really can’t go wrong (unless there’s a hurricane going on… in which case maybe you want to stay inside!).
